SUMMARY:Jory Kinjo Community Concert
DESCRIPTION:A love for all roots music has taken Jory Kinjo around the world\, sharing stages with artists from BB King to ZZ Top. Kinjo was raised in R&B\, Blues & Soul music\, but his career has touched on Funk\, Jazz\, Reggae & Ska. Kinjo joined the soul band Mocking Shadows in 1999. The Shadows toured with B.B. King in 2001\, 2002 and 2012. The long-standing Calgary band has also done shows with Buddy Guy\, ZZ Top\, Reba McIntyre and The Tragically Hip. In 2014\, Kinjo moved to New York City to work with ska bands\, the Slackers\, and the Rocksteady 7. He performs regularly with these acts and associated artists across North America and Europe. Kinjo tours Canada\, USA\, Europe\, and Japan regularly with his various projects; Jory Kinjo & the Relays\, Vic Ruggiero\, Kinjo & Young\, Mocking Shadows\, the Kinjo Bros and Ann Vriend. \nFeaturing Hope Bridges Society Music Discovery Class with accredited music therapist\, Kate Ager\, Music Discovery encourages social interaction\, connection\, and community while making music.

DESCRIPTION:The Music Discovery program will provide free inclusive access to the transformative power of music therapy. With Kate Ager\, an accredited music therapist\, participants will explore diverse musical instruments and styles of music in an environment that encourages social interaction\, connection\, and community while making music. Instruction will focus on music knowledge\, developing skills through singing\, movement\, and instrumental play with a variety of instruments while having fun and improving mental and physical wellness. \nThroughout the year\, the Music Discovery will also allow participants to experience a range of live music through intimate musical guest performances or ‘Community Concerts’. Participants will have the chance to see\, hear and interact with local artists\, they will also have the opportunity to perform with local artists in a safe and celebratory community setting.
